. Bro Dysynni athletes notched up a notable double when the running weekend got off to an early start with the Hendre Wallog Fell Race in Abergynolwyn on Thursday evening.


Tom Lewis won in a time of 16.28mins, followed by his training partner Richard Griffiths in 17.08mins. Other notable times were clocked by 16 year old Kristian Gatenby, first local home in 23.37mins. Race winner Tom Lewis's daughter, Michelle, home on leave from duty in Kosovo, crossed in a time of 23.49mins with 12 year old Terry Williams, first junior home in 25.00mins.


The action switched to Brecon on Sunday morning for the Welsh 10 Mile Road Race Championships. In a race won by Eric Kiplagat (Bromsgrove) in a time of 51.46mins, the first Dysynni runner home was Nigel Evans in 1hr 09.34mins. Just 21 seconds behind Evans was Rosie Naish, who claimed a noteworthy bronze medal in the Welsh Closed Championships. Colin Evans came home in 1hr 14.45mins. The club was also successful in two age group categories; Brenda Jones (1st female over-55) in 1hr 30.19mins and Sheila Symonds (1st female over-60) in 2hrs 14.46mins.


This weekend sees another Friday night race in the Gobowen 5 Mile Race, whereas on Sunday morning the action switches to Barmouth for the annual hill run. The senior event gets underway at 11.00am from outside the leisure centre and there is also a junior race in the afternoon. More details are available from the Leisure Centre (01341) 280111.
