Locally affiliated athletes featured prominently at the recently revamped Penmaenpool Trail Race, an event which replaced the Penmaenpool 10 Mile Race. The new course measured a total of 8.9 miles and was considerably more undulating than its predecessor. Victory at the inaugural running of the new event was claimed by Gancho Slavov (Aberystwyth A.C.) in a time of 58.26mins. Three athletes affiliated to Meirionnydd R.C. claimed a top ten finish as Alan Jones of Ffestiniog claimed 5th spot in a time of 1 hr 06.49 mins, Clive Edgington of Friog claimed 6th spot, as well as age category victory within the Male Over-50 section, in a time of 1 hr 08.52 mins with Ashley Charlwood of Dolgellau home in 8th spot in a time of 1 hr 10.37 mins. A further trio of Meirionnydd athletes followed with Arfon Hughes of Dolgellau home in 1 hr 12.15 mins, David Elliott of Machynlleth following in 1 hr 12.30 mins and Glyn Rowlands, the Arthog based athlete home in a time of 1 hr 17.53 mins. Richard Griffiths of Tywyn was the sole Bro Dysynni competitor in action at the event, home in 1 hr 21.22 mins, whilst a further 8 Meirionnydd athletes featured amongst the race results. Graeme Stringer of Llanelltyd came home in 1 hr 22.28 mins, exactly two minutes ahead of Dave Seabourne, the Dolgellau athlete home in 1 hr 24.28 mins. Nicola Rees of Arthog claimed age category success within the Female Over-40 category in a time of 1 hr 32.03 mins ahead of Dai Rice of Dolgellau, home in 1 hr 33.19 mins. Heidi Roden of Arthog was the next Meirionnydd finisher in a time of 1 hr 33.55 mins with Sioned Jones of Dolgellau following in 1 hr 40.26 mins. The Meirionnydd contingent was completed by Lucie Llywelyn of Dinas Mawddwy and Christine Owen of Dolgellau who both crossed the line in a pleasing time of 1 hr 46.40 mins. Two Meirionnydd athletes also saw action in the shorter 3.6 mile event with Nich Bradley of Dolgellau finishing in 35.44 mins and Pete Nicholls of Llanfachreth following in 36.47 mins. A further local athlete followed, with Hugh Archer of Taicynhaeaf crossing the finishing line in a time of 37.09 mins.

Elsewhere recently, Sandra Williams of Dolgellau took on the challenge presented by the Four Lakes 30k Road Race. In a race based within the Snowdonia National Park and taking in the lakes of Nantlle, Gadair, Dywarchen and Cwellyn, the Meirionnydd R.C. athlete produced a sterling performance to finish in an overall time of 3 hrs 02.42 mins.

Finally, two familiar names, both previous members of Bro Dysynni A.C. have recently seen competitive action in Australia. Adrian Bailey, previously of Barmouth, placed 5th out of 475 athletes who completed the 14.6k course at the 4th and final event of the 2013 Salomon Australian Trail Race Series. In an event based in the town of Anglesea, near Melbourne, the North Walian came home in an overall time of 54.22 mins. In Sydney, Sarah Dallimore, previously of Dolgellau completed the 9k Blackmores Bridge Run, a race which included a crossing of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in an overall time of 1 hr 21.16 mins.
