Yo and Marj flying the Bro Dysynni flag at Lilleshall
The National Sports Centre in Lilleshall, Shropshire was the venue recently for the fourth of the five fixtures which constitute the 2013-14 Grand Prix Express North Wales Cross Country League, with the long distance geographical location resulting in a lower that usual locally affiliated turnout.

In the Senior Men's event, Meirionnydd Running Club were represented by a trio of athletes, the three being led home by Alex Lanz, the Dolgellau based athlete claiming a 36th spot finish in a time of 40.22 mins. Another Dolgellau based athlete followed in the guise of Arfon Hughes in a time of 45.15 mins with Clive Edgington of Friog completing the Meirionnydd contingent in an injury hampered time of 46.06 mins. The aftermath of the smaller than usual turnout saw the Meirionnydd team slip from 4th to 6th position within Division 1 of the Senior Men's League.

Bro Dysynni A.C. were represented by two club stalwarts within the Senior Ladies Race, both of whom claimed placings within their respective age categories. Yolanda Marconi-Nolan claimed 3rd spot within the Female Over-60 category in a time of 39.27 mins whilst Marj Griffiths went one better, the Aberystwyth based athlete claiming 2nd spot within the Female Over-65 section in a time of 42.08 mins. Their efforts were well rewarded as Bro Dysynni remained in 6th spot within the 2nd tier of the Senior Ladies League after the completion of the 4th event.

There is local action for the first time in 2014 this coming Saturday as Abergynolwyn will play host to the Railway Inn sponsored Ras Tarren Hendre. The 6 mile fell race which includes an overall 2,000 feet of climbing is also the 2nd counter within the 2013-14 Meirionnydd Winter Race Series.
