A busy week started on Wednesday evening for one Bro Dysynni runner when Nigel Evans competed in the Denbigh 10k and finished a very creditable 8th place and 2nd male over-40 in a time of 38.53mins.


Along with 10 other club runners, Nigel was in action again on Friday night, competing in the 5 mile Dick Whittington Dawdle race near Oswestry. First home in a field of 156 was Peter Lucas (Staffs) in a time of 25.06mins with the Dysynni club claiming 2nd & 3rd places. In 2nd place was Adrian Bailey (26.29mins) and in 3rd place and edging closer to his training partner was Alun Williams with a personal best time of 27.34mins. Other finishers with age award categories were as follows; Nigel Evans in 29.36mins (3rd male over-40), Graeme Stringer in 32.17mins, Rosie Naish in 32.20mins (3rd lady), Colin Evans in 34.10mins, Malcolm Taylor in 34.54mins, Andrea Goode in 35.44mins, Andy Unwin in 39.01mins, Christine Stevens in 44.29mins and Sheila Symonds in 56.34mins (1st lady over-65).


Remarkably, Nigel Evans competed in a third race in five days when on Sunday he recorded a time of 62.36mins to be 2nd male over-40 home in the Hereford 10 mile road race.


Also competing in their 2nd race in 3 days were Colin Evans (72.45mins) and Andrea Goode (74.12mins).


It was also a successful weekend for Laura Scott of Dyffryn Arduduwy, now at school in Brecon, as she competed in both the 400 metre hurdles and the 800 metres in the Under-18 group of the Welsh Schools Championships.


Laura obtained 2 silver medals and as such will now be representing Wales, again in Newport, against Scotland in a Schools International on 13th July.
