News Report 24th March 2013

With heavy snow forcing the cancellation of the Ras yr Aran Fell Race which was due to have been held last Saturday, there has been little recent activity involving local athletes.

Amongst the few in action were the Meirionnydd Running Club duo of Tony Hodgson of Llanelltyd and Sandra Williams of Dolgellau, both of whom headed south to Powys to take part in the 20 mile Rhayader Round the Lakes Race. In an event which also included its fair share of inclement weather conditions, the former came home in a time of 2hrs 51.44 mins, the latter in 3hrs 20.08 mins.

Bro Dysynni A.C. were represented recently at the Vale of Clwyd 10k Road Race, an event which started and finished in Llandyrnog. Representation was provided by Blaenau Ffestiniog athlete, John Tee, who completed the challenge in a time of 53.31 mins.

An athlete with strong connections to the Barmouth area as well as Bro Dysynni A.C. continues to impress in sunnier climbs. The athlete in question, Alun Williams, recently claimed an excellent 2nd placed finish at the Moke Lake 10k Off-Road Race held in the Otago region of the south island of New Zealand, completing the event in an excellent time of 35.35 mins.

Finally, Jo Ayling of Llandanwg produced a sterling performance at the recent btr Liverpool Half Marathon, completing the 13.1 mile course in an excellent chip time of 2hrs 16.42 mins.
