Not wanting to be without a race for the weekend, the Evans brothers of Bro Dysynni travelled to Chester for the half-marathon.

Over 2,000 athletes took part in the event over a fast scenic course. The course had no steep climbs, but did climb slightly for the first four miles, with the same route covered on the way back being down slightly with the wind behind.

All this made for good fast times with both the Evans boys getting back to their best form of the year.

Nigel stopped the clock in 1hr 22.01mins with brother Colin setting a season's best in 1hr 32.00mins.

The race was won by Alan Shepherd from Morpeth Harriers in 1hr 07.09mins, followed by Dave Mansbridge of Telford in 1hr 07.30mins with Prestatyn's Simon Shields third in 1hr  07.40mins. Simon's club-mate Lyn Madison won the ladies race in 1hr 20.47mins.

Alun Llyr Williams, aged 19, took part in his first senior track race of the season, against senior opposition and in very windy conditions in Bath, over 5,000 metres.

Alun finished third in 17.12mins to pick up valuable points for his college, which enabled them to win the meeting.

This coming weekend sees a busy one for Bro Dysynni athletes.

Saturday sees the Cader Idris fell race over 10.5 miles and Sunday sees the Erddig 10k, Wrexham with a Bank Holiday fell race fixture at Mynydd Myfyr, Oswestry.
