News Report 23rd April 2014

The red and green of Dysynni has been in action recently, the vest being worn in London as well as at events closer to home in Newtown and Portmeirion.

Firstly to London where Brenda Jones was in action at the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon. In an excellent effort, Brenda placed 8th within the Female Over-70 category, completing the 26.2 mile course in a time of 4 hrs 55.26 mins.

Closer to home, two of our members were age category winners at the recent Chocoholics 5k event held in Newtown. Marj Griffiths won the Female Over-65 category in a time of 31.31 mins whilst Sheila Symonds won the Female Over-80 category in a time of 47.30 mins.

Three of our members also descended upon Portmeirion for the inaugural running of the 6th Trail Race, a 6k event run through the iconic Italianate village. Geraint Evans was the 1st Dysynni finisher in a time of 42.46 mins with a busier than ever Sheila Symonds finishing in 1 hr 22.54 mins. Disaster struck our third member as a dodgy knee led to the early retirement after 3k of Andy Unwin.
