Bro Dysynni Athletics Club celebrated a successful year at their annual awards evening held in Llwyngwril.

The handicap league was this year won by Graeme Stringer who just pipped Malcolm Taylor at the post. In third place after an excellent season, winning many age category awards, was Sheila Symonds.

The male season in the cross country handicap league was shared jointly between Adrian Bailey and Barrie Jackson, whilst the winner in the female section was Yolande Marconi-Nolan.

The best performance by a male runner was by Adrian Bailey at the Chester Zoo 10k and the best female performance was by Rosie Naish at the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon.

Meanwhile, last weekend, two runners were in action at different locations. In the 5 mile Llyn Elsi fell race held near Betws Y Coed, Barrie Jackson of Bala was first male over-60 home in a time of 39.24mins, whilst on Sunday Colin Evans of Dolgellau completed the Telford 10k race in bitterly cold conditions in a time of 44.12mins.

Over the festive season, there are 2 races which normally attract Bro Dysynni athletes. On Boxing Day (Sunday), there is the 4.8 mile Chester Round the Walls race, whilst on New Year's Day runners have the chance to run off their excesses of the previous evening at the Denbigh to Ruthin 10k.
