A trio of athletes affiliated to Bro Dysynni A.C. recently undertook their first competitive outing of 2014, the event chosen being the Twin Piers 10k Race, an event which took the competitors from Llandudno Pier, along the coastal road to the race finish situated in Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay.

The race winner, from a field of 338 athletes was Brendan Rothery, the Eryri Harrier home in a time of 33.26 mins. Leading home the Dysynni trio, as well as claiming age category victory within the Female Over-70 section was Brenda Jones, the Llanelltyd based athlete covering the course in an excellent time of 57.46 mins. A further 23 seconds elapsed before the 2nd Dysynni finisher crossed the line, namely Marit Evans, the Dogellau based athlete home in a time of 58.07 mins. The Dysynni contingent was completed by the redoubtable Marj Griffiths, the Aberystwyth based athlete home in 64.28 mins.

One other local athlete in action at the start of 2014 was Huw Brassington, who took on the 26.2 mile challenge presented by the Anglesey Coastal Trail Marathon. In an event which attracted 112 starters, the Bont Ddu based triathlete claimed an excellent 5th placed finish in the multi-terrained event in an overall time of 4 hrs 34.34 mins.
