News Report 17th July 1999

Eleven Bro Dysynni runners ventured south last Saturday morning to take part in the inaugural Machynlleth 10k.

The winner in a relatively small field was Kevin Hamilton (Cerist Water) in a time of 37.51mins.

First home for Bro Dysynni and claiming third overall was Nigel Evans who despite twice taking a wrong turning, came home in 41.40mins. Rosie Naish was 1st female home in a time of 43.18mins.

Other Bro Dysynni finishers in time order were Huw Harrison in 43.59mins, Colin Evans in 45.14mins, Barrie Jackson in 48.26mins, Liz Clarke of Les Croupiers in 48.28mins, Adrian Bennett in 51.16mins, Brenda Jones in 51.45mins, Debbie Evans in 56.02mins, Roy Peel in 57.31mins and Clare Horton in 61.10mins.

On Saturday, club runner Andy Unwin continued in his quest of running a race of at least half marathon distance every calendar month of this year by completing the Milton Keynes Half Marathon. In extremely warm conditions which no doubt affected the finishing times of all 500 runners, Andy was grateful to finish in a time of 2hrs 05.33mins.

This weekend should see a good club turnout at the Park Hall 5k near Oswestry. The race is on Friday evening with a 7.15pm start. Meanwhile, Saturday will see the Welsh Triathlon Championships being held in the South Meirionnydd area.
