Glorious conditions greeted the record field of 101 finishers at the 4th running of the 'Organic Aran lamb' sponsored Ras Yr Aran held in llanuwchllyn recently.

 

In only it's 4th ever running the race has gathered momentum and is now considered one of the top fell races within the Principality, a fact confirmed by the first ever 3 figure number of race finishers. The 2007 event even had a couple of New Zealand entries, making the race evne more cosmopitan.

 

The 2007 event was won by Chris Waters (Ambleside A.C.) in a time of 1hr 31.54mins a mere 28 seconds outside the existing course record. The first of a relatively small number of local finishers was Steve Gilliland of Tywyn whose finishing time of 1hr 35.005mins marked an 11 minute improvement on his time for the corresponding event in 2006. It also ensured a 4th place finish overall and victory in the male over-40 category.

 

The ladies race was won by Eryri Harrier' Andrea Roberts in 1hr 50.29mins with Llanelltyd-based Dave Whittey following in 2hrs 03.11mins. His meirionnydd Running Club team-mate, kate
