A total of ten locally affiliated athletes recently formed part of the field of over 500 competitors who completed the Cambrian News sponsored Aberystwyth Charity 10k Race. In a race won by Cardiff A.A.C. athlete, Carwyn Jones, in a time of 32.43 mins, the local contingent were led home by Tom Roberts of Dolgellau, finishing in 9th spot overall in a time of 35.47 mins, a time which also set a new club record for the distance for athletes affiliated to Meirionnydd Running Club. There was a terrific performance from Eifion Roberts of Harlech as the Bro Dysynni athlete claimed victory in a very competitive Male Over-50 age category in a time of 40.11 mins, just under two minutes clear of Arfon Hughes of Dolgellau, the 2nd Meirionnydd finisher in a time of 41.52 mins, a time which also incidentally set a new club record over the 10k distance for Meirionnydd R.C. within the Male Over-40 age section. Three further Meirionnydd athletes then followed in the guise of Glyn Rowlands of Arthog, Graeme Stringer of Llanelltyd & Keith Williams of Bont Ddu who produced respective finishing times of 46.27 mins, 47.10 mins and 49.50 mins. They, in turn, were followed by a quartet of athletes affiliated to Bro Dysynni. The quartet were led home by Brenda Jones of Llanelltyd, victorious within the Female Over-70 age category in a time of 56.54 mins. Alison Sayes of Aberdyfi followed in 57.04 mins, ahead of Marit Evans, the Dolgellau based athlete crossing the finish line in a time of 59.45 mins. The Dysynni contingent was completed by Marj Griffiths of Aberystwyth, claiming 2nd spot within the Female Over-65 section in a time of 64.57 mins.

Also in Aberystwyth, Dolgellau athlete Alison Smedley led home the Female Over-40 section in a recent Aberystwyth 5k Park Run, the Meirionnydd runner completing the event in 25.30 mins.

Finally, Meirionnydd R.C.'s Jeff Davies claimed 2nd spot within the Male Over-60 category at the recent Andy Reading 10k, completing the event held in Bicester, Oxfordshire in a time of 43.17 mins.
