News Report 11th April 1999
Along with over 250 other runners, six Bro Dysynni members ventured to Crewe on Easter Sunday to take part in the Air Products 10k.
In humid conditions, the runners ran a two lap race and the eventual race winner was Welsh Commonwealth Games athlete, Jamie Lewis (Swansea A.C.), who completed the course in 31.32mins. In an excellent second place was Bro Dysynni's Adrian Bailey, who after an outstanding winter running cross country, is now hitting form on the roads aswell as he finished 45 seconds behind the race winner in 32.17mins.
Also in good form and home for the Easter break is Alun Williams. Alun finished the race in 12th place in a time of 35.25mins. An injury free Nigel Evans finished in 43rd position in 38.02mins whilst there was a good battle further down the field with Colin Evans (42.59mins), just pipping team-mate Andy Unwin by seven seconds. The duo finished in 92nd and 94th positions respectively.
Making a running debut for the club in this race was Alun's father, John Williams, who completed the course in a very creditable time of 53.22mins.
This weekend, the action switches to Chirk, where on Sunday the Chirk Castle 10k race takes place. The race starts at 10.00am and this is an event normally very well attended by the club's runners, with Paula Jeffs winning the ladies section of the corresponding race in 1998.
