Six Bro Dysynni athletes joined 40,000 other runners at the Great North Run last weekend.
The first Dysynni runner home, some 25 minutes behind race winner John Mukai of Kenya, was Nigel Evans in a time of 1hr 26.48mins. Next home for the Tywyn based club was Colin Evans who faded after a fast start to complete the course in 1hr 42.12mins. The Dysynni six were completed by Gill Allday, 2hrs 14.16mins, Helen Williams, 2hrs 31.49mins, and Christine Stevens and Liz Bradley coming home together in a time of 2hrs 51.29mins.
The previous day saw 3,000 youngsters line up to partake in the 3 mile Great North Fun Run. Lining up at the start was birthday girl Cassie Allday, who celebrated her 10th birthday by completing the course in 28.03mins, a time which no doubt inspired her proud mother to a good run the following day.
This weekend sees the second cross country fixture of the season, the venue this Saturday afternoon being Colwyn Bay. Also this weekend, a small group from the running club will be going Dutch by heading to Amsterdam for the capitals half-marathon.
