News Report 9th June 1998

Sunday, 7th June saw five Bro Dysynni runners travel to Buckley to run in the annual 7 mile road race. The course was a 2 lap circuit of an undulating rural / town run.

Simon Shiels, last years winner, just failed to beat his own course record of 35.38mins but the ladies record of 45.50mins set by Rosie Naish was broken by Emma Davies of Deeside in a time of 43.48mins. First home for Bro Dysynni was Tom Lewis in a time of 44.32mins, followed by Richard Griffiths in 46.27mins. Colin Evans followed in 47.44mins, losing out on last weeks late surge on Griffiths, still recording a high percentage for the handicap league. Next home was Andy Unwin in 51.41mins, followed by Glenda Davies in 53.58mins. But the honours of the day went to young Owain Davies who won the junior fun run and was ably assisted by his young twin sisters, Cerian and Heledd, aged just 2 and a half and competing in their first ever race. Names to look out for in the future!

Next race in the club handicap league will be the Ellesmere 10k near Oswestry, being held at 1.00pm on Sunday, June 14th.
