 A dozen Bro Dysynni athletes formed part of a field on nearly 300 for last Sundays' Slaters Abergele 5 Mile Race, which also incorporated the North Wales 5 Mile Road Race Championships.


It proved to be a highly successful day for the club, as the race winner and pre-race favourite, Adrian Bailey, romped home 17 seconds clear of the opposition in a time of 25.13mins to beat a high quality field.


In seventh place was Alun Llyr Williams, setting a personal best time of 26.54mins, which also claimed third place in the North Wales Championship.


Other Bro Dysynni finishers on the day were Malcolm Taylor in 33.09mins, Colin Evans in 35.24mins, Glenda Davies in 35.42mins, Barrie Jackson in an excellent 37.12mins, Debbie Evans in 37.29mins, Andy Unwin in 38.22mins, Brenda Jones, 1st female over-55, in 40.23mins, Roy Peel in 45.15mins, Gill Allday in 47.11mins and Sheila Symonds in 62.03mins.


This Sunday, local athletes face another journey up the Conwy Valley, this time to Llandudno for the annual 10 mile road race.
