Locally affiliated athletes were out in force at the recent Trailworks / Garthyfog Log Cabins sponsored Penmaenpool 10 Mile Trail Race, with an athlete affiliated to Meirionnydd Running Club claiming overall victory in the event run exclusively along the Mawddach Trail.

The victorious Meirionnydd athlete was Wrexham-based Dave Parker who claimed race victory in a sterling time of 1hr 01.34mins. Two further Meirionnydd affiliated athletes followed as Clive Edgington set a club age group record within the Male Over-55 category for the distance as he came home in a time of 1hr 07.32mins with Blaenau Ffestininiog based Alun Jones following in a time of 1hr 08.38mins. There was also an excellent performance from Eifion Roberts of Harlech who claimed an overall 9th placed finish at the event in a time of 1hr 09.07mins. A further six Meirionnydd athletes then followed in the guise of Jeff Davies, setting a club age category record within the Male Over-60 section for the distance in a time of 1hr 11.34mins, with Dai Whittey of Llanelltyd and Dylan Evans of Bryncrug having a head-to-head battle the former home in 1hr 12.05mins, the latter in 1hr 12.21mins. Ricky Francis of Talyllyn followed in 1hr 13.26mins ahead of Kevin Evans of Brithdir, home in 1hr 24.36mins. The 3rd Meirionnydd age group category record for the distance was claimed by Dai Rice of Dolgellau, setting a new Male Over-65 club record as he crossed the finishing line in an excellent time of 1hr 26.26mins.

The first of the three Bro Dysynni A.C. athletes in action then followed, as Bob Chilton of Hermon made a welcome return to competitive action as he completed the course in a pleasing time of 1hr 28.37mins,

a little under 2 minutes ahead of club colleague, JohnTee, the Ffestiniog based athlete following home in a time of 1hr 30.32mins. Christine Owen of Dolgellau then followed, the Meirionnydd R.C. athlete home in a time of 1hr 45.11mins

with Marj Griffiths completing the Bro Dysynni turnout, the Aberystwyth based athlete completing the course 1hr 55.11mins.

A further trio of locally affiliated athletes were also in trail running action recently, on this occasion at the Anglesey Island Trail Races. With Newborough Forest and Llanddwyn Island providing a picturesque backdrop for the 13.1 mile half marathon event, there were strong performances from Sandra Williams of Dolgellau, the Meirionnydd R.C. athlete home on 2hrs 11.33mins and Brenda Jones of Llanelltyd, the Bro Dysynni veteran claiming age category victory within the Female Over-70 section in an excellent 2hrs 21.44mins. Also in action, on this occasion in the affiliated 10k race, was Marit Evans of Dolgellau, the Bro Dysynni athlete completing the event in a time of 1hr 19.30mins.
