A total of 13 locally affiliated athletes formed part of a field of 211 competitors who recently headed to Caernarfon, their chosen event being the Ceir Cymru Caernarfon 10k Road Race, a race which also incorporated the 2013 North Wales 10k Road Running Championships.
The first of the locally affiliated athletes to finish was Ifan Richards of Brithdir, the Meirionnydd R.C. athlete claiming an overall 8th placed finishing spot in a time of 36.09 mins, a time which also claimed North Wales Championship victory within the Male Over-35 category. A further trio of Meirionnydd athletes followed in the guise of Glyn Griffin of Llanfrothen, Alan Jones of Blaenau Ffestiniog and Clive Edgington of Friog, home in respective times of 36.46 mins, 39.27 mins & 39.45 mins, the latter claiming 3rd spot within the Male Over-55 age category. The trio of Bro Dysynni athletes in action at the event were led home by Eifion Roberts, the Harlech based athlete completing the course in a time of 42.16 mins, ahead of a further trio of Meirionnydd athletes with Ricky Francis of Talyllyn home in 43.00 mins, Arfon Hughes of Dolgellau in 44.57 mins and Graeme Stringer of Llanelltyd in 47.16 mins. Geraint Evans of Porthmadog was the 2nd Dysynni finisher in 52.26 mins. Nicola Rees of Arthog was the next Meirionnydd finisher in a time of 54.41 mins, a time which claimed 3rd place within the Female Over-45 section whilst club colleague Sioned Jones of Dolgellau, in her first competitive event for around three years, went two better to claim victory and North Wales Championship success within the Female Over-35 category, the Dolgellau based athlete home in a time of 54.55 mins, one second ahead of club-mate Alison Smedley, also of Dolgellau, who followed in 54.56 mins. Bro Dysynni also had an athlete claiming success within the North Wales Championships as Sheila Symonds claimed victory within the Female Over-80 section, the Dolgellau based athlete home in a tremendous time of 1hr 29.46 mins.
Two athletes affiliated to Bro Dysynni A.C. also saw competitive action recently, their chosen event being the Source of the Severn Multi Terrain Race, a 9.2 mile event which included an overall 1,300 feet of climbing based in and around the Hafren Forest in Llanidloes. Leading home the duo, in a time of 1 hr 20.55 mins was Richard Griffiths of Tywyn, with club colleague, Alun Jones of Bryncrug following in a time of 1 hr 23.50mins.
Finally, Meirionnydd R.C. were represented at the Kent Coastal Half Marathon by Jeff Davies, the Bala born athlete completing the event in an excellent time of 1 hr 52.47 mins.
