Glorious weather conditions have greeted a number of locally affiliated athletes who have seen competitive action at three different venues over the space of the last 10 days.

The most local event, held last Saturday afternoon, saw Bryncrug play host to the Ras Foel Gocyn Hill Race, a 4 mile challenge held as part of the Bryncrug Carnival celebrations. Race victory was secured by Eifion Roberts of Harlech, the the first of the seven Bro Dysynni A.C. athletes in action at the event, victory achieved in an excellent time of 30.08mins. Second place on the day went to James Morgan of Bryncrug, as a time of 30.37mins also claimed success within the Junior Male section. Ricky Francis was the first of the three Meirionnydd R.C. competitors home, the Talyllyn based athlete claiming 3rd place overall in a time of 32.45mins. Dylan Jones of Tywyn followed, the 2nd Bro Dysynni finisher in a time of 33.33mins, a mere one second ahead of George Richards, also of Tywyn, 2nd Junior Male in a time of 33.34mins. Danny Evans of Brithdir was the 2nd Meirionnydd finisher in a time of 35.14mins, followed by Alun Jones of Bryncrug, the Bro Dysynni athlete crossing the line in a time of 37.12mins. Another Dysynni athlete followed, in the guise of Richard Griffiths, the Tywyn based athlete victorious within the Male Over-60 category in a time of 37.49mins. Kevin Evans of Brithdir completed the Meirionnydd turnout as he came home in a time of 39.09mins with Adele Powl-Jones following, the Tywyn based member of Bro Dysynni claiming victory within the female section of the race in a time of 42.14mins. Richard Vroom of Tywyn continued the strong Dysynni turnout, home in 43.38mins, with club colleague Sheila Symonds completing the Dysynni team, the Dolgellau based athlete victorious within the Female Veteran section in a sterling time of 66.00mins.

There was also strong Bro Dysynni A.C. representation at the recent Newtown BBQ 5k Race, held on a glorious Friday evening. Delighted to lead home the team of five Dysynni competitors was Huw Harrison, the Fairbourne-based athlete home in a time of 28.05mins. Exactly 60 seconds later, Brenda Jones of Llanelltyd followed, victorious within the Female Over-70 section in a time of 29.05mins. Also finishing within the half hour mark was Andy Unwin of Harlech, beaming as he crossed the line in a time of 29.34mins. The remaining two Dysynni athletes also claimed age category success, the evergreen Marj Griffiths of Aberystwyth claiming victory within the Female Over-65 section in a time of 32.05mins, and the night before Ras Foel Gocyn, the remarkable Sheila Symonds claimed age category success within the Female Over-80 category in a tremendous time of 44.21mins.

One further Bro Dysynni A.C. athlete in action recently was Geraint Evans, the Porthmadog-based runner completing the arduous Felinheli 10k event in an excellent time of 55.00mins.
