News Report 6th June 1999

Three Bro Dysynni athletes ventured to Buckley last Sunday to take part in the two-lap, 7 mile race. They were met by surprisingly humid conditions which, along with an undulating course, made for tough going.

The race winner in a field of 81 was Simon Shiels (Prestatyn R.C.), a comfortable winner in a time of 36.39mins. The best placed Bro Dysynni runner was Nigel Evans, coming home in 21st position in a very respectable time of 43.19mins. Nigel was soon followed home by his brother Colin, in a time of 51.10mins with the Bro Dysynni team being completed by Andy Unwin who, running with a sore achilles, was grateful to finish in a time of 57.09mins.

This weekend sees the Welsh Castles Relay passing through the area on Saturday afternoon, as well as 10k races in Newport (Telford) and Ellesmere (Shropshire) on Sunday.
