Having joined Bro Dysynni A.C. a little over a fortnight ago, there was an impressive debut race for 19-year old Mark Fowles of Aberdyfi who recently claimed victory at the Hendre Wallog Trail Race held in Abergynolwyn.

 

The new club member claimed victory against highly respected oppostion as he came home in a time of 15.58mins, with Mathew Roberts (Eryri Harriers) of Tremadog following home in second spot in a time of 16.14mins. Three time race winner, Steve Gilliland of Tywyn had to settle for third place on this occasion in 16.25mins with Dewi Roberts of Blaenau Ffestiniog following in 17.03mins. Gerwyn Pugh of Rhoslefain put in an impressive effort to claim 5th spot in 19.25mins with Dylan Jones of Tywyn completing the top six in a time of 20.08mins.

 

Having been the fifth female finisher in 2006, Adele Powl-Jones of Bryncrug impressed all concerned, winning the female race of 2007 in 29.05mins. Runners-up spot was claimed by Jean Napier of Tywyn, the Bro Dysynni A.C. Chair-Person coming home in 29.29mins whilst Sheila Symonds of Dolgellau continued her magnificent season as she came home third in the female category in 32.46mins, knocking over a minute off her 2006 time.

 

Youngsters made up over a third of the field of 41 with notable performances being turned in 10-year old Ed Powl Jones of Bryncrug, home in 20.25mins and 11-year old Dewi Pugh of Llanegryn who followed in 21.18mins. There were also impressive performances from Dion & Aron Roberts of Blaenau Ffestiniog, finishing in respective times of 22.12mins and 22.14mins.

 

There was also a category for residents of Abergynolwyn which was claimed by 7-year old Dilwyn Bryan, home in a fantastic time of 25.23mins.

 

The race organisers expressed their thanks to all who helped out on the evening of the race as well as to the generous race sponsorship provided by Chesworth Building Supplies of Tywyn.
