In 2003 & 2004 a number of runners from the Dutch running club, ARO88, attended the Cader Idris fell race. The club are based in the town of Obdam in the North of the Netherlands.

After their 2nd visit, I planned to visit Obdam in February, 2005 to run in their race called the 'Polderloop'. However, other things cropped up and the visit never went ahead. However, I have now booked to go in 2007 and perhaps others may wish to join (Nigel Evans has also already booked). The 2007 Polderloop race takes place on 25th February with further details available on the club website at www.aro88.nl and clicking on the 'Polderloop' link. The 'Polderloop' consists of a choice of a 5k or 10k race with shorter races also available for juniors. The race appears to be, at least partly, off-road.

I have booked to fly with Easy Jet (www.easyjet.com) from Liverpool to Amsterdam as follows;

Friday, 23rd February Flight 7005     - Depart Liverpool        3.15pm

                                                     - Arrive Amsterdam      5.35pm

Sunday, 25th February Flight 7002   - Depart Amsterdam    10.05pm

                                                     - Arrive Liverpool          10.25pm

At the time of typing (26th September), the return cost for the above is 52.....obviously this will increase gradually, so early booking is advisable.

Upon arrival at Amsterdam Schipol, the plan is to catch a train (40mins) to the town of Hoorn for a 2 night stay at the Hotel Petit Nord (www.hotels.nl/hoorn/petitnord). (Double room inc breakfast 95 euros per night).

Hoorn is a 10 minute train journey from Obdam and approximately 50 minutes from Schipol Airport.

So a Friday late afternoon arrival, a free day on Saturday, race day on Sunday before a Sunday night return home.

Should anyone fancy the above, I'm happy to book on their behalf if requested.
