The third fixture (Bangor) of the Majestic Travel North Wales Cross Country League saw the ladies and mens teams hold on to their respective 6th and 11th positions in Division 2, although they did fall further behind the teams ahead of them. The 'ladies veteran' team moved up from 9th to 8th as Abergele didn't field a complete team in the Bangor race and, as such, dropped out of the league standings.

The updated tables are as follows;

LADIES DIVISION 1                                                                           LADIES VETERANS

Wrexham        -   64 points                                                                Oswestry          -   86 points

Oswestry        -   80 points                                                                 Wrexham         - 109 points

Telford            - 136 points                                                                  Telford             - 110 points

Colwyn Bay    - 145 points                                                                  Eryri                - 120 points

Eryri              -  193 points                                                                  Buckley           - 164 points

Buckley         -  233 points                                                                  Prestatyn        - 190 points

Denbigh         - 296 points                                                                   Denbigh           - 201 points

                                                                                                          Bro Dysynni    - 334 points

LADIES DIVISION 2

Tattenhall     -  150 points

Prestatyn     -  242 points

Menai T & F -  382 points

Bangor Uni   -  443 points

Shrewsbury  -  470 points

Bro Dysynni -  525 points

Abergele      -  549 points

Vale Royal   -  573 points

Wrecsam Tri-  596 points

Maldwyn      -  610 points

Deeside       -  684 points

In Division 2, an excellent turnout from Shrewsbury propelled them from 10th to 5th place whilst Abergele paid for a poor turn out as they slipped from 4th to 7th. Fifth place is still a realistic target for the ladies with 2 fixtures to go. The ladies veterans seem settled in 8th place but could still climb the table if any of the teams above them fail to raise a team (as happened to Abergele at Bangor) in either of the remaining races.

MENS DIVISION 1                                                                            MENS DIVISION 2

Eryri           -  325 points                                                                    Prestatyn              -    1025 points

Telford        -  334 points                                                                   Menai T & F           -   1031 points

Shrewsbury-  511 points                                                                    Maldwyn                -   1361 points

Abergele    -  707 points                                                                    Tattenhall               -   1577 points

Wrexham   -  787 points                                                                    Deeside                 -   1616 points

Colwyn Bay-  844 points                                                                    Denbigh                -   1646 points

Buckley     - 1223 points                                                                   Vale Royal             -   1812 points

Oswestry   - 1414 points                                                                   Bangor Uni.            -   2021 points

                                                                                                         Wrecsam Tri.          -   2300 points

                                                                                                         Bridgnorth               -   2664 points

                                                                                                         Bro Dysynni            -   2724 points

                                                                                                         Aberystwyth            -   2729 points

Eryri took advantage of home ground and a poor Telford turnout to take over the leadership of Division 1 whilst Menai T & F leapfrogged above Maldwyn into the 2nd promotion spot in Division 2. Division 2 was also reduced from 13 to 12 teams with a no turn-out in Bangor from West Cheshire. The dreaded wooden spoon looks to be a three way battle now between ourselves, Bridgnorth and Aberystwyth.

The next league fixture will be hosted by Wrexham AC at Ysgol Morgan Llwyd on Saturday, 20th January, 2007. As ever, a decent turnout could do wonders to our various league standings.
